A non-governmental organization asked Department of Justice (DoJ) Secretary Leila De Lima to recall the last decision of former Justice Secretary Alberto Agra, to dump the human trafficking case against fifteen (15) persons, including a retired general and immigration agents.
Today, Blas F. Ople Policy Center group reveals Agra’s midnight decision last June 28, 2010. Wherein he reversed the recommendation of a government prosecutor in filing a case against those who involved in the said syndicate inside the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.
In the said decision of former DoJ chief, he reversed the recommendation of Senior State Prosecutor Aileen Marie Gutierrez in her April 14, 2010 memorandum, wherein it was proven in an examination that there exists an evidence against the respondents.
Agra’s controversial decision descended only two (2) days before the inauguration of President Benigno Aquino III.
As remembered, immigration agent Racel Ong personally stands as a witness to prove the syndicates who operated inside the airport, wherein the victims of human trafficking can pass through the airport with the help of few immigration officials and escort system.
